Recording on iPhone
Open VoiceBrief and tap Start Recording on the dashboard. Tap Stop Recording when finished. The recording will appear under Recent Thoughts.
Recording on Apple Watch
Open VoiceBrief on your Apple Watch and start a recording. When the recording ends, VoiceBrief sends it to the paired iPhone.
Keep the iPhone and Apple Watch nearby and connected while the recording is transferred. If immediate transfer is unavailable, the Watch may queue the file for later delivery.
Microphone and Speech Permissions
VoiceBrief requires microphone access to create recordings and speech-recognition access to create transcripts.
You can review these permissions in:
Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone
Settings → Privacy & Security → Speech Recognition
Creating an AI Note
Open a recording and choose Create AI Note. VoiceBrief will create a transcript and send the transcript text to the secure VoiceBrief AI service.
The service returns an AI-generated title, summary, and action items. The original audio file is not sent to the AI service in the current version.
Free AI Allowance
VoiceBrief may include a free allowance of AI note generations. You can continue recording, playing, and transcribing notes even if the free AI allowance has been used.
VoiceBrief Pro provides expanded or unlimited access to eligible AI features, subject to the plan shown in the app.
Managing a Subscription
Open VoiceBrief Settings and choose Manage Subscription to view, upgrade, change, or cancel your subscription through Apple.
Deleting the app does not automatically cancel a subscription.
Restoring Purchases
Open VoiceBrief Settings and select Restore Purchases. Make sure the device is signed in to the same Apple Account used for the original purchase.
Deleting a Recording
On the VoiceBrief dashboard, press and hold a recording and choose Delete Recording.
Deleting a recording also removes its locally stored transcript, summary, title, and action items.
Data Storage and Backups
In the current version, recordings and saved note data are stored locally on the iPhone.
Removing VoiceBrief, resetting the device, or losing the device may permanently remove locally stored recordings. Maintain an appropriate device backup for important content.
AI Service Delays
AI generation requires an internet connection. Temporary delays may occur because of network conditions or cloud-service availability.
If an AI request fails, verify the internet connection and try again. The recording and transcript remain available locally.
Transcription Accuracy
Transcription accuracy can vary based on background noise, speaking volume, pronunciation, language, microphone quality, and Apple speech-service availability.
Review transcripts and AI-generated content before relying on them.
